Song Title: Song In My Head

How did Myspace Records discover Sherwood? They were the first band you guys signed correct? Sherwood was the first official MySpace Records release in March of 07. Tom Anderson stumbled upon Sherwood while checking out bands on MySpace (he is a big music fan) and realized that they weren't signed to a label at the time. Once the band was convinced that it was actually Tom reaching out to them and not some practical joker, they decided to meet with him and were convinced that this would be a great home for them.
The rest is history…

Did Sherwood have a Street Team in place before using Fancorps, and if so how was it?

Sherwood did not have a street team in place before using Fancorps – Sherwood collected names and email addresses while on the road and maintained an extensive physical mailing list and, of course, utilized MySpace, to keep in touch with their fans.

The band has a great online presence on Myspace already, what got you interested in teaming with Fancorps to manage the Sherwood Street Team for the future? It’s great to have a lot of MySpace friends, but there is still no way for artists to geographically track their fans’ specific activity. We were researching different companies to run a digital street team and Fancorps’ platform was the best one that we found – the simplicity of the interface and its’ overall functionality made it the most appealing to us.

How has it been going so far? Have Sherwood's fans taken to the Fancorps system? So far, we've been very happy with Fancorps overall functionality and ease! We’ve been able to watch every one of the fans that have signed up for their team and not only thank them individually for their hard work, but reward them with exclusive prizes also. It might take a while for Sherwood’s fans to talk amongst themselves and discuss their cool prizes, but we’re confident that will happen shortly.

Has Fancorps helped out with tour promotion and exposure? Yes, Sherwood is currently on the road with The Academy Is…, The Rocket Summer, and Armor for Sleep! By utilizing Fancorps capabilities, we have been able to post and distribute viral tour flyers, local and regional announcements, and new artwork! Besides that, we’ve created a Membership Group for fans that want to do offline work too. This has been a great help, because besides being able to export the data for that group, we’re able to get tools into the hands of their biggest fans – and who better to help you promote upcoming tour dates than their real fans?

Out of all of the features and tools that Fancorps provides has there been any one that has really stood out and been extra helpful to you and/or the team as a whole? The function that I like the best is the “Order Proofs” page and the link to that page that can be emailed to bands, managers, etc. That is one of the easiest and quickest ways to directly show what the fans are doing and exactly how they are doing it! These days, as budgets are stretched as far as they can be, accountability is very important and Fancorps makes it easy to show exactly what the street reps are up to.
